Once you have negotiated all the busy streets and seen all the amazing cultural sights of Kathmandu city it is nice to retreat to 'The Garden of Dreams'. It's a few minutes walk from busy Thamel and near to the Royal Palace and is a peaceful and serene garden enclave. Somewhere restful and quiet to read a good book and eat something a bit different in one of the cafes (relatively expensive, but good). It has a distinctly European flavour as it was built in the 1920's based on Edwardian English gardens and is a surprise when you enter as the ambience is so diifferent to the streets outside.
